Projects

Below you will find a few projects CTL has performed within each service category – geotechnical engineering, materials testing, civil design, and pavement management. A brief description is given for each project and CTL’s services provided for that project. You may receive more information by clicking here to contact us.

City of Ocala – SW 42nd Street Flyover

CTL provided all drilling and geotechnical engineering services to the City of Ocala for a new four-lane “flyover” Interstate 75 just south of SR 200. Services included subsurface exploration, Shelby Tube sampling, laboratory analysis, and bridge and permanent retaining wall structure foundation design recommendations. All geotechnical information was submitted to the FDOT for evaluation and approval of the proposed construction.

Marion County – SE 31st Street Extension, Phase II

Marion County has already completed a major construction effort to alleviate congestion on the east-west corridor known as 17th Street. Phase I of the SE 31st Street Extension was completed a few years ago and Marion County is now completing the project in Phase II. CTL is providing on-site field materials testing services in support of that construction effort. Services include classification of materials, standard and modified proctor testing, field density testing for pipe backfill, roadway subgrade and base materials, limerock bearing ratio testing and asphalt extraction and gradation testing. CTL maintains qualified technicians certified by FDOT’s CTQP program as well as the Construction Materials Engineering Council (CMEC).

Progress Energy

CTL has performed numerous subsurface explorations, geophysical explorations, and assessments for various projects at the Progess Energy Crystal River Plant. We also provide continuous materials testing services for various contractors implementing projects of all types. Recent projects have included a haul road and water tank foundation exploration and recommendation study. The construction activities related to these studies are recently completed or currently being implemented.
